Cooking Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add penne and cook according to package instructions (about 10 minutes). Drain, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion for 8-10 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Lower heat and add softened cream cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest, and italian seasoning. Stir for 2 minutes until well combined and smooth.
- Mix in ¼ cup of reserved pasta water to adjust sauce thickness, adding more as needed for desired consistency.
- Add fresh basil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Toss in drained pasta until coated in the sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parmesan and fresh herbs if desired.
