  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil Feel free to use butter if preferred.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can kick it up a notch.
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper Adjust according to taste.
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Parsley Optional; green onions are another option.

Equipment

  • large pot

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by heating a drizzle of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté them for about 3-4 minutes until they become translucent and fragrant.
  2. Introduce the sliced smoked sausage to the pot. Stir frequently, allowing it to cook for 5-6 minutes until browned.
  3. Once the sausage is browned, sprinkle in garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together for a minute.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, increasing the heat to bring it to a gentle boil. Add your choice of penne or rotini pasta to the pot and cook uncovered for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and honey BBQ sauce, mixing until well combined. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring continuously until it melts and forms a luscious sauce.
  7. Taste your dish and adjust the seasoning with a pinch more salt or pepper as desired. Garnish with chopped parsley if you like.
