Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan lined with foil and lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
  2. Melt unsalted butter in a large microwave-safe bowl, microwaving in short intervals until fully melted.
  3. Whisk in egg, light brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined and smooth.
  4. Sift in all-purpose flour and salt, gently folding until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-24 minutes until the center is set.
  6. Cool the bars in the pan on a wire rack for at least 90 minutes.
  7. Beat cream cheese and softened butter in a mixing bowl until creamy, then gradually add confectioners’ sugar, additional vanilla extract, and salt.
  8. Once bars are cool, lift them from the pan using foil, spread the cream cheese frosting on top, and dust with cinnamon if desired.
  9. Slice into squares and serve.
