  • 1/3 cup honey maple syrup can be used as a substitute
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce tamari is a gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar apple cider vinegar is a substitute
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mix with water to avoid clumping
For Seasoning

  • optional crushed red pepper flakes for heat

  • optional sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add 8 ounces of sliced sausage to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. In the same skillet, add 4 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Toss in 3 cups of broccoli florets and sauté for 4-5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Return the cooked sausage and add 1 pound of shrimp, 1/3 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  7. If desired, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water, then add to the skillet and stir for about 1 minute.
  8. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes as needed.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
