Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Cut the French bread into cubes and layer half in the greased baking dish.
- Scatter half of the cream cheese cubes across the bread followed by half of the strawberries.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining bread, cream cheese, and strawberries.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layers. Press down the bread to absorb the mixture.
- Let it set for about 15 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let rest for about 10 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes
Using day-old bread helps achieve the best texture. Allow for soaking time to enhance the custardy consistency.
