  • 4 slices Bacon Substitute with smoked tempeh for vegetarian.
For the Flavor
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Can substitute with shallots or red onions.
  • 1 cup Barbecue Sauce Use store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard Yellow mustard or Dijon.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Skip for vegetarian version.
For Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika Use regular paprika if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground is best.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy (5–7 minutes).
  3. Sauté finely chopped onion in the reserved bacon fat until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine baked beans, crispy bacon, sautéed onion, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes until bubbly and caramelized.
  7. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
